Restorative Justice Conference Announced
The Restorative Justice Association of Virginia (RJAV) has scheduled their annual fall conference for Monday, October 20, 2008, at the Holiday Inn University Area and Conference Center, in Charlottesville. Plenary session speaker for the event is Dan Van Ness. Mr. Van Ness is the author of numerous books on criminal justice issues and the principal architect of the Declaration of Basic Principles on the Use of Restorative Justice Programs in Criminal Matters, which was endorsed by the United Nations in 2002. Other workshops include: Introduction to Restorative Justice; Restorative Justice in Schools; Working with Crime Victims; Difficult Cases and How to Handle Them; Traumatization and its Effects; Multicultural Issues in Restorative Justice Conferencing; and Re-Entry and Restorative Justice Conferencing.
