French began her career working with children and families nearly fifteen years ago.  She is employed as Superintendent of the New River Valley Juvenile Detention Center.  Prior to assuming her current position, French was the Assistant Superintendent of Programs for the Roanoke Valley Juvenile Detention Center, which is where she first became active with VJJA.  She served on the VJJA Board of Director sin the capacity of Director of Public Relations.  She previously served as secretary of the Blue Ridge District.  French was the 2005 recipient of the VJJA Meritorious Service Award in the Area of Residential Services.  French has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise and a Master of Public Administration degree from Virginia Tech.  She and her husband, Mike share their Botetourt County home with their two American Bulldogs, Kira and Okie and their cat, Maggie.
