COLLATERAL CONSEQUENCES
NIJ is soliciting proposals for a national study that will provide a comprehensive compilation of Federal and State collateral consequences for criminal convictions. The purpose of this research is to inform and improve criminal justice policy and practice by providing policymakers with the information they need to understand the legal and regulatory barriers that may affect successful offender reentry into the community. Deadline: February 4, 2009.

CHRONIC DRUG USERS UNDER SUPERVISION
NIJ is seeking proposals for research to evaluate the effectiveness of a demonstration program that includes a drug-testing, sanctions, and treatment protocol for chronic drug users under criminal justice supervision in the community. The basic principles of the program must include: (1) frequent drug testing; (2) certain, swift, and proportionate sanctions for failed tests; and (3) access to residential treatment, as appropriate. The purpose of this research is to inform and improve criminal justice and public health policy and practice and to reduce recidivism among chronic drug offenders on pretrial status, probation, or parole. Deadline: February 4, 2009.

COMMUNITY AND FAITH-BASED OPPORTUNITY
The Department of Labor will award $5 million to community organizations under the Young Parents Demonstration programs to provide training in educational and occupational skills aiming to achieve economic self sufficiency within families. The program targets high risk young mothers and fathers as well as expectant mothers ages 16-24. Projects funded will serve young parents in specific categories, including those who are court-involved, in the child welfare or foster care system, homeless, or victims of child abuse. Young Parents Demonstration programs create innovative ways to serve this population, providing vocational skills but also academic work, personal attention and support services. This program is sponsored by the Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration, working to provide substantial skills to young families to achieve personal economic sustainability. Deadline: November 17, 2008 at 4:30 p.m.

CAMPUS SUICIDE PREVENTION GRANTS
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2009 for Campus Suicide Prevention Grants. The purpose of this program is to facilitate a comprehensive approach to preventing suicide in institutions of higher education. This program is designed to assist colleges and universities in their efforts to prevent suicide attempts and completions and to enhance services for students with mental and behavioral health problems, such as depression and substance abuse, which put them at risk for suicide and suicide attempts. Deadline: November 25, 2008.

CHILD MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVE
SAMHSA's Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2009 for Cooperative Agreements for Comprehensive Community Mental Health Services for Children and Their Families (CMHI). The purpose of this program is to support States, political subdivisions within States, the District of Columbia, Territories, Native American Tribes and tribal organizations, in developing integrated home and community-based services and supports for children and youth with serious emotional disturbances and their families by encouraging the development and expansion of effective and enduring systems of care. Deadline: January 15, 2009.

B.J. CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
The goal of this funding program is to enhance and enrich community programs that primarily benefit children and families. The majority of grants support organizations that: promote the safety, security, and well-being of children and families, deliver education and health programs, provide community-service opportunities and aid in hunger and disaster relief. Eligible are non-profit organizations with programs that positively impact communities where BJ's Wholesale Clubs are located. This year's deadline has passed, but for future reference, go to: www.bjs.com/about/community/charity.shtml

DIRECTORY OF FOUNDATION WORKFORCE GRANTS
rganizations that focus on workforce development and job training are a significant asset to their communities. Many corporate and private foundations see the value in these community organizations reaching their neighbors and want to help. The Directory of Foundation Workforce Development Grant Opportunities booklet (54 pages) is a resource for these organizations looking for funding opportunities for their workforce development or economic development programs. This directory provides a detailed list of private and corporate foundations that provide grant opportunities to FBCOs in order to give community organizations a clear and concise tool to pursue grants. These lists provide a detailed explanation of each grant and contact information to more easily determine eligibility.
